All the time we have to make decisions. Sometimes we do not know which one is the best, and we spend time and energy trying to decide what to do. When our minds are confused, we go to the people that we trust the most and to listen their opinion. In the end, we make decisions based on the influences of the wisest people we know, such as our parents, grandparents or friends. We feel safe and confident with their advise because we know they want the best for us.
Explorers in the Alps were seeking exotic flowers. They saw a beautiful one, probably the “Edelweiss,” that was seen in a dangerous place, close to a river, 4,000 below (see wikipedia). The access that flower was very difficult. The only way to get to it was to use a cord. When the explorers were debating whether or not to risk seeing the flower, they saw a little shepherd. They called him and offered him coins if he allowed the explores to tied him to the rope and go down to pick the flower.
The man looked at the coins. He really needed them, but the danger was great, and he didn't know the men. Again and again he analyzed the situation. Then an idea came to his mind. He left the explorers and soon returned with a tall and strong man. Finally near the edge of the precipice, the boy ran to where the explorers were and said, "Now you can tie me to the rope, only if you let my dad hold the other end."
God wants to hold us with His own hands to help us overcome our difficulties. There is nobody else like him to keep us safe, even near the edge of a cliff.
Dear Lord, You are my refugee. Help me understand that You are present even in the difficult times and that You are holding me by your right hand. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

I appreciate the stories you put in your blog. In times of skepticism, I think your stories bring a sense of optimism and faith. I admire your strong faith in God.

ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more with your statement that we seek out the advice of those we know to be wise when making difficult decisions. This is so true and when any of us look back at the times in our lives when we've had to make a tough choice, there is likely some outside influence that helped us make the final decision. Nicely done!
